META, Mo. – December 02, 2024 – In a shared commitment to help both pets and those in need, Diamond Pet Foods has partnered with Warriors’ Best Friend Foundation on their mission to train rescue dogs and pair them with soldiers and schoolchildren in need of service and facility dogs through Operation Enrichment. This initiative provides key nutrition for the Warriors’ Best Friend dogs in training who eventually go on to serve the community.

“We’ve proven that rescue dogs really can make a big impact,” said Joe Jeffers, founder and executive director of Warriors' Best Friend Foundation. “Many of our graduated rescue dogs have gone on to help our veterans deal with the mental and physical wounds of war, while others are in schools as a calming presence for kids who need a little extra support.”

Warriors’ Best Friend strives to impact the community through two vital programs, Operation Homestead and Operation Schoolhouse, by professionally training rescue dogs and pairing them with individuals and organizations. Operation Homestead provides trained rescue canines to military base units or with chapters of the USO or Red Cross for the benefit of military service members and their families. Operation Schoolhouse provides highly trained canines to schools to help calm and support students who have experienced trauma or are in crisis.

At the Warriors’ Best Friend campus in Liberty, MO, Jeffers and his team work with shelters to train rescue dogs that are then placed as active facility dogs at no cost. These full-time facility and service dogs have been specially trained for their mission: they are deployed to accompany those in need full-time in their day-to-day activities. The dogs offer both mental and physical benefits to those in need.

“Warriors’ Best Friend has greatly assisted military communities by pairing more than 100 warrior-canine matches and working with USO and military bases in the U.S. and worldwide,” says Jeffers. “Schools have also benefited with more than 50 dogs placed in Kansas City metro area schools, and requests are rapidly growing across Kansas and Missouri to support students.”

“We are excited to amplify the mission of Warriors’ Best Friend,” states John Kampeter, vice president of sales and marketing at Diamond Pet Foods. “Warriors’ Best Friend focuses on specialized assistance to communities in need: military, school children and rescued dogs. As a family-owned business, Diamond Pet Foods is proud to support the hard work of everyday heroes who strive to positively impact families and communities.”

Through Operation Enrichment, Diamond Pet Foods is supplying Diamond Naturals®, a complete and balanced pet food, for the dogs as they prepare for their important roles after graduation. This critical nourishment helps fuel the dogs in training, ensuring they are ready to support the veterans and students who rely on their companionship and expertise.

As part of the partnership, Diamond Pet Foods is also supplying gear to support the dogs throughout their training. Upon graduation, Diamond will send the newly trained dog and handler team on their way with a gift package to get them started on a successful path forward together.
